State Assemblymember Blanca Rubio Names SEC Vice President Lisa Fuerst 2024 Woman of the Year

Recognition Highlights Fuerst’s Continued Commitment to Giving Back to the Community

SACRAMENTO, Calif.—California State Assemblymember Blanca Rubio recently honored Success Education Colleges (SEC) Vice President Lisa Fuerst as the 48th Assembly District Distinguished Woman of the Year. Each year, the Legislative Women Caucus recognizes women from across the state who have made remarkable contributions to the communities where they live, work, and volunteer.

“I am so pleased to present Vice President Lisa Fuerst with this well-deserved recognition,” Rubio shared. “It’s an honor to empower the women in our communities as they continue to pave the way for future generations.”

A North-West College alumnus who randomly met Mitchell Fuerst at a night club decades ago, Lisa began her career as a medical insurance biller and coder. She later opened her own consulting practice and, eventually, a medical billing company. She now serves on the Executive Committee of Success Education Colleges (SEC) alongside her husband, President Mitchell Fuerst. A multi-campus system of postsecondary colleges, SEC is dedicated to seeing students succeed in the health care field.

Her own story being one of humble beginnings, Lisa is driven to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate and often overlooked. For her, giving back encompasses both time and resources, as she consistently looks to make a difference through several non-profit organizations that share her passion.

Fuerst also firmly believes in the life-changing power of education and looks for ways to provide educational opportunities to as many individuals as possible—knowing firsthand how the right education can completely transform your future.

“I am deeply humbled by this recognition,” Fuerst explained. “It’s an honor to get to work alongside likeminded individuals such as Assemblymember Rubio to see our communities changed for the better. It’s a privilege to show the next generation of women how to see and meet the needs of those they encounter every day in their neighborhoods, colleges, workplaces, and beyond.”
