Success Education Colleges Hosts First Bring Your Child to Work Event
Initiative Connects Kids with Allied Health Field, Preparing Them for a Bright Future

WEST COVINA, Calif.— From August 2–4, Success Education Colleges (SEC) welcomed more than 60 children of Team Members to its campuses for the Colleges’ first Bring Your Child to Work event. Designed to give Team Members the opportunity to share their professional roles with their kids ages 9 to 16, the event also provided children with an introduction to the health care field. SEC intentionally scheduled three consecutive Bring Your Child to Work days to allow individuals with multiple children to bring one child with them each day.

“One of our goals was to show children what their parents do here at Success Education Colleges and help them understand how important their parent’s individual role is to the Colleges as a whole,” explained Riverside Campus Director Irma Pirone. “They were so excited to find out how their parents make a difference at SEC.”

In addition to hearing about their parents’ responsibilities, children who attended the event participated in several activities designed to give them a glimpse into allied health careers. From learning how to make toothpaste in the Pharmacy Technician lab to watching a mock surgery and touring the Medical Assisting and Vocational Nursing labs, the days were filled with hands-on, enriching moments.

“The Bring Your Child to Work event also served as a mini career day for the kids who came,” Pirone said. “At the end of the day, we had some children share that they wanted to become a Surgical Technologist. Others were interested in Nursing or working as a Pharmacy Technician. By introducing these children to the health care field at an early age, we’re helping to spark an interest that will hopefully lead to a bright and rewarding future.”

SEC President Mitchell Fuerst shared that, from start to finish, Success Education Colleges’ first Bring Your Child to Work event was a complete success. “It was so awesome for these children to see what their parents do every day to help students change their lives for the better,” Fuerst said. “We are excited to make this an annual event—next year, we would love to see 100 kids visit our campuses!”
